My Process

When I begin a painting, I rarely have a specific outcome in mind. I play with
colors, textures, and techniques freely and intuitively, and my mind and body
become completely immersed in the experience. My process has a call and
response rhythm: each swipe of paint is a response to a previous mark, and so on.
The result is layered, sometimes vibrant, sometimes subdued, and always distinctive.
The primary materials I use are acrylic paints, inks, resin, and modeling paste, and
the surfaces I use are stretched canvases, wood panels, and glass. Instead of paint
brushes, my tools are my hands, the flow of liquids, fire, gravity, and also a variety of everyday items like combs, cloth, straws, funnels, and balloons. The sizes of the paintings vary dramatically from small (4” x 4”) to quite large (36” x 48”).
